  • New to the G6 world

    Hey Guys and Gals,

I picked up my first G6 in November and have just been a shadow in the forums until this morning. I have recently been browsing a few different forums and looking a different projects to take my Base Model G6 with the 3.5L. It will be a daily driver so any advice from the DD guys would be great.

Other then looking at getting my hand dirty with this car I enjoy paintball and nitro rc cars. Look forward to getting to know the community more all over the world or right here in southern Minnesota.

I would suggest better lighting (HID projectors). Eagle Eyes housing are mediocre and will work okay, but they wouldn't be nearly as good as a proper HID projector retrofit.

Sweet I will have to check them out. The headlights where a little yellow when I got the car. After reconditioning them there was a world of difference.

Is there any negatives of going with say a DDMtuning HID kit vs. actually buying a new housing?

Re: New to the G6 world

DDM Tuning only sells the HID lighting kits (bulbs, ballasts, harnesses, etc.). They don't sell projectors or complete headlight housings.

As for negatives concerning DDM, their kits are shoddy, meaning you'll have a good kit one day, but the next day it'll be a kit that lasts for maybe a couple months. It's typical Chinese production.

For housings, you can buy half-assed halo projector headlights pretty much everywhere, or if you want proper HID projectors retrofitted in a headlight housing then you'd have to contact a retrofitter (reference my Xenon6 thread in the Swap Meet category of this forum).

Welcome! Mine's been a daily driver since I bought it. Works great. You'll have to post some pics and let us know what you're possibly wanting to do.

Thanks for the welcomes guys! As of now some of the things I am looking into are tint, HID lights, and a new sounds system I think. I also want to look into tinted tails if any of you have done that let me know what you think. Kind of thinking about painting the rims. Right now I have to take care of some issues in the front end before the fun can start.

Pictures I think will have to wait a while since its been so cruddy here. and everything is muddy.

As for HIDs, what exactly are you looking for?

Not exactly sure yet. I haven't done enough digging on this topic yet.

On a side not I did both front wheel bearings this week with a nice write up I found on this site.

Just do the retrofit. Halo projector lights belong on BMWs, not Pontiac's, and the retrofit looks much better IMO (with a black housing even better) lol

I will look into that. I would like the black housing especially if I am going to do tinted tails.

Has anyone plasti-dipped rims at all? Wondering how smooth the process went.

Welcome! not a fan of the plastidip either but to each their own. For DD I would recommend something like I have, Intake, exhaust, grounding kit and strut bar. Basic upgrades but make a pretty good difference.
