  • Trunk rattling...anyone ????

Does anyone have a problem with the rattling on the trunk. I am trying to tone it down some but seems it is not helping. Dynamat does not work. How is everyone else doing it?

Oh man, there has been tons on talk about this. Might i suggest the search button. See what you can dig up.

One thing that hepled me out alot is taking the cover for the 3rd brake light and also tightening up the screw things on the trunk lid supports. Also put a buffer between the lid and the parts that touch and also move the trunk latch lower and that all helped.

The only rattle I've had so far is near the instrument cluster.

What i used in my saturn when i was getting alot of rattle was polly fill (its the stuff that they put in pillows and teddy bears). You can get a big bag at wal-mart for cheap. Just take it and stuff it in as many holes in the trunk as you can find.

Well, when you are pushing 2 15" JLW6's and 1000w to each, you have to find ANYTHING to stop the whole car from shacking apart!

One of the main reasons i got rid of my GT

As for the poly idea, that definitely works. I have also been know to shove carpet padding into holes and cracks.
hell i jut like shoving things into cracks and holes!

And for those not so easily accesible holes/cracks, try some spray foam.

the problem with spray foam is that it expands. Too much and you will get humps in the trunk lid. I would try polly fill first, then go from there.

Yeah, im not taking about that yellow stuff you would fill in a hole on the side of the wall with Its been years since i used some, but i use to spray on a type of sound deadner (foam) that went on thick, but did not expand. Shit would stick to anything. It was like a type of fleckstone paint but alot thicker.

When i had my saturn i was thinking about getting the trunk sprayed with stuff that they put in truck beds, that thick plastic coating or whatever it is.
