  • My PCM dyno results

I opened a new thread from my other one because I know some people are like me. After seeing some threads with 4pages and havent read any of it yet sort of ignore it. But if anyone like to catch up heres the link to the last thread

    http://www.g6performance.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6285

My car went on a Mustang Dyno. And I was one of the first 10 cars on there as it was installed this week. However, being that I am one of the first 10, I was the first to want my numbers printed. Unfortianlly, its having a printing problem and saving issue last night so my car did about 7-8 pulls on it. We got the finally result to print. So I have posted it below. I appologize I have no torque sheets or anything like that. My car was dynoed at stock and pulled out......
Air intake temp was at 111 degress F so a VERY fair stock pull as mod you will see also a cold engine.
    207.3 HP
    214.4 Torque
All is done to my G6 for performance is a K & N panel filter and no air intake resonator. Also stock took it up to 118 MPH to the govonor kicked in.

Modded with the PCM tune you can see below on the page is........
Now engine was warm (very warm) and intake temp was now 122 was the coldest we could get it back down to for the modded pull.
    225.8 HP
    222.6 Torque
So that is a 18.5 HP pick up and 8.2 or torque pick up
As you can see below on the paper took it to 122.3 MPH to show no govonor is present anymore either.

Thats a 14% drop from stock BHP of 240 to 207.3 so IMO thats very colse to realsitic ground numbers. I know everyone can debate power train loss but I have said and posted before IMO FWD is a 15% drop off and RWD is 20% drop off. Some people say its always 20% or 25% drop off. Either way it does show the HP gain and again I do apologize I dont have the charts or the stock pull. I just wrote down the WCF (weather corrected figure) on the stock run because having printer problems the whole time.

Also we where going to dyno tune my PCM tune but being the car so stock and looking at the numbers and timing charts ect, he said there was only 1-2 HP maybe to be bought on the tune and not worth sitting there for a couple hours for 1-2 HP.

Mods please alow this, am giving a plug for him on this thread because he was so NICE and GREAT to me he gave me all the dyno time for FREE and I was on it from 5-730pm after close!

He is Tune Time Performance and his name is Matt and based in NJ. So I wont get into much trouble do a yahoo search for Tune Time NJ and you will find his web site or PM me and I can link you over.

Yea its like I said a 14% drop off from power train so the to wheel numbers might be a little high but overall IMO close. It shows though there was a 18.5 HP pick up and a 8.2 of torque pick up to the wheels that I think is GREAT for a PCM tune on a stock car. If I add 14% to the wheel numbers because thats the drop off from stock to wheels on the dyno am guessing BHP should be around 258 and 254 of torque.

No offense to you Vector guys but the paper shows my cars govonor has been bumped up for the ones that says there govoner is still there and I got more HP from mine

I use not to be much a beliver in how much a PCM tune really can give or the diffrence the car reacts till now! PCM tune all the way! :smoke:

                              dre256,
Those are impressive numbers, and with the PCM mod very significant.
The conversion numbers from Rear Wheel HP (RWHP), to Engine HP (EHP), for your 225.8 RWHP should yield 262.5 EHP, using your 14% loss factor.
Remember EHP loss (%) gives RWHP.
The equation, using 14% loss, is then:
                              EHP - (EHP x .14) = RWHP
                              or simplifying the eguation:
                              EHP x .86 = RWHP

As an example, use 250 EHP and 14% loss:
                              250 x .86 = 215 RWHP
Now, keeping the equation consistent (mathematically correct), in order to obtain EHP from RWHP, the equation becomes:
                              EHP = RWHP / .86 ( / is divide symbol)
or as per our example we have 215 RWHP:
                              215 / .84 = 250 EHP

Therefore, as I stated above, your 225.8 RWHP, and 14% loss, would yield:
                              225.8 / .86 = 262.5 EHP.

I guess the easiest way to remember this for any loss factor is :
                              RWHP / ((100-loss factor)/100)
or for say 17% loss factor:
                              RWHP / .83 = EHP for 17% loss
                              RWHP / .81 = EHP for 19% loss
                              RWHP / .79 = EHP for 21% loss

                              The same applies to Torque.

The percentage loss factor has been a topic of discussion for many years, with so many factors contributing to the amount of loss; regardless of the loss factor, the improved numbers in your case , due to PCM changes are what really counts.

                              Later,
                              Don
