It was fun being airborn. Sucks for my car. After spending $12,000 on making the car how I wanted, i was devastated seeing it in this condition. Its in good hands now and is being brought back to be better then before.

Just went to the body shop and the rims look unbeleivable on the car. Only have the rear set on as the front end still needs to be replaced.
Ill get more pics next week. But progress is upon us.
In the meantime ill post some videos of the car for your enjoyment

Update:
Drove the car to the allignment shop and found out the rear knuckles and suspension are bent. Meaning the car is out of allignment by 1.6 degrees.

So ordered new suspension for the rear and passenger front and a new radiator support.

Hopefully next week the car will be together and getting painted.

I also will be installing a TVS2300 supercharger too, so stay tuned.

So.... how does one lose control in a 70km/h (45mph) construction zone, get the ass end to hang out and then end up airborne? Were you not paying attention to the road, or were you driving like a total newb? Feel bad for the car in either case...

penelopeTHEg6

those new wheels are amazing!! was this all covered under insurance ?

Thebeast
11-11-2011, 09:34 PM
they were half paved roads. all chewed up. My nitto envos were bald on the inside due to the dealer not knowing how to do an allignment. i realized this after the accident and the tires were past wear bars on the insides.

car breaks tires loose in whatever gear you are in when you give it some gas. Most cases its just a simple chirp. This case, was a serious burn out, where i corrected the tail end to go straight. instead, it tailwhipped and went straight into a median.

Ive driven this car for almost 2 years and am quite capable of handling the car, but with some wet roads, loose pavement, and bald tires, it was a recipe for disaster. I learned and will move on now.

As for the other question, insurance is covering everything. I have all receipts for aftermarket parts and they have taken it into consideration, including the price differences from oem to aftermarket.

When the car is done, i will be installing a tvs2300 with new injectors, 2 aeroforce gauges with a wideband, and hitting the track for new numbers

glad i wasn't the only one. but now that there's an explanation, it makes a little more sense. i know that the SS likes to follow cracks in the highway that have been tarred. still not used to it after almost a year...

I got a question for ya do the camaro's brembo brakes transfer right on to the g8 or do you need to do some modification??? Would really appreciate the answer thanx I advance...

Thebeast

You need to drill the front knuckle to accomodate the larger 14mm bolt for the caliper. stock bolt is 12mm.
Rear brembos require a custom braket needed to relocate the caliper in higher position.

bracket is only necessary for thr rear conversion. It can be bought from greg at wasslow.com.
also these brakes do not cler factory rims, so aftermarket rims that fit a gxp will clear

Took one week for them to make my order. Then a few days past and procharger tells me they are back ordered on crank pulleys.so supercharger will be here Tuesday or Wednesday and crank pulley will ship Friday.

My injectors and bap will be here this week as well. It's all coming along quite nicely.

Installing bmr suspension Tuesday at 9am. Will take pictures during install as well. Will take all day.

make a road trip to IL Bryan and Ill let ya drive the goat and ill drive yours...

I'm down for a road trip. I need a vacation.

I have been around cars all my life and been learning from my mechanic and my father. Finally got a Platform(g8) worth modifying. Been following ls1tech, grrrr8.net and numerous forums learning what I can. I know I can do anything I want to the car with the right tools, so save money by not paying labor.
Then I have my awesome tuner and engine builder, Jeff, who has his own dyno and hp tuners software. He is the only one I trust tuning my car. I'm at 52,000 miles now and have had his tune for 30,000 miles and not one thing wrong.

Money comes from hardwork. Nothing will be handed to you on a silver platter. I started as a line cook at brus room sports bar and grill here is south Florida. In 2 years I am now Kitchen Manager and working closely with the owner to make this restaurant a huge success. Now I am making 40,000+ a year and I am only 22.

Installing procharger this weekend so stay tuned everyone

Wow really!? That is craziness!! But even so, that is sucking in lots of warm air from the engine, you would try and relocate it!! Colder air is denser which means more gas for more hp!! :gtr:

thats what intercoolers are for ;) the heat from the air being compressed in a turbo/super charger probably gets hotter than the air in the engine bay anyways.......even using a CAI

Hauls ass for sure. Up to 4000rpms it only produces 3psi of boost. 4000rpms to my rev limiter of 6200 it hits 9.5 psi. Really acts like a belt driven turbo. I'm getting 16city/25highway Mpgs. I have also maxed out my fuel system(bap is on Max and zr1 injectors are at 93% duty cycle). So this will be it for a while till I can afford new injectors and twin fuel pumps

Thebeast
07-27-2012, 12:49 AM
Just had a complete retune of the car. First tune was not sufficient.

I'm now shifting at 6600rpms and redline set at 7000rpms I think. I have enough fuel for now all the way through the gears, but throttle shuts down at 7lbs of boost.

I don't have enough fuel pressure and when the injector duty cycle hits 100%, the computer shuts down the throttle. Keeps it safe.

So next I am installing the new zl1 fuel pump. Will support over 800. Need to Redyno the car soon, but I should be north of 600rwhp now

CrimsonGTP
07-27-2012, 08:29 AM
needs moar fuel! do you already have bigger injectors too?

Thebeast
07-27-2012, 08:40 AM
I'm using the zr1 injectors, but I hit 100% duty cycle before I hit max boost. So to be safe the computer shuts down the throttle and limits me to 7lbs.

killiger2009

Drag radials didn't matter either. Still spun them slightly and ran a 11.9 at 122. Trans temps were still too high.

So installing Monday is the camaro ss transmission pan and filter, holds more fluid, and much larger trans cooler(earls 81906 cooler)
