  • HOW TO - Remove engine cover

Well now I feel pretty dumb for having to ask, I can't imagine I'm the ONLY person who doesn't know how to take the engine cover off but I didnt see any threads about it so I guess I'm a complete noob

hopefully it doesn't take a whole lot of time to get an answer, but HELP PLEASE!!

I don't know about the 2.4 but on the 3500 and 3900 you need to remove the oil cap, and it'll just pop right off.

oh really? ill try that, i mean i pull on it a little bit and it just feels like it has zero give so i dont try pulling to hard..i actually feel like i'll hurt myself more from pulling to hard than i would hurt the cover haha

Re: HOW TO - Remove engine cover

Just make sure that theres nothing holding it down on the top i.e. the oil cap. There are little rubber grommets on the bottom that fit into metal nipples on the engine. I'll show you some pics tomorrow if you still haven't gotten it.

I know the 2.2 Eco in my Cavy just had the rubber grommets on the bottom also. You've never taken it off so the first time can be really difficult. As mentioned just make sure nothing on the top is holding it down and try to wiggle it away from the posts grabbing onto the grommets. It should come free eventually.

No you don't have to keep the cover off for the intake, but that black box will go. Did you get it off or do you need some pics? I can go snap a few really quick.

ok! yeah i knew the box would have to go which is fine if i have a cold air id want to show it off when i open my hood haha but i like to have the clean look under the hood with the cover on since its just a baby 4 cylinder engine haha

and i havent gotten a chance to try yet but if youre up to it some pics would be nice haha having some what of a diagram never hurts =]

Does your engine cover look like this, except black obviously:
2005 Chevy Trailblazer: K and N CAI, Gibson Cat Back Exhaust, Billet Grille, Tinted Aftermarket Tail Lights.
