  • Installing aftermarket speakers with stock deck CAN BE DONE!

I posted on here a while ago asking about just replacing the speakers on my monsoon system in my g6 sedan. Most people said it couldnt be done, and some said that it would sound horrible.

Well being my ignorant self, I went ahead and ordered a set of jbl GTO 2ohm components, and infinity kappa 2ohm external crossover 6by9s. I didnt use the aftermarket crossovers, and just wired up the speakers to the stock wiring; stock deck, stock amp.

    IT SOUNDS AMAZING!

It doesnt compare to a full deck, amp, sub conversion, but for someone on a budget, and who wants the car to appear stock, this is an option!

The 6by9s pound like a 10, and everything is tight and clear.

I do however have a little "white noise" on low volumes, which I have yet to figure out how to fix.

The reason that it worked out well is that you went with 2ohm speakers. As the stock system is tuned for 2ohm, you came out okay.

                  A WAAAY better sound.
Sounds like I have a nice 8inch sub and awsome speakers.
except for the static at low volumes...which you cant hear past 1/4volume

                    what ones should I get?
they all say 4ohm....so to run them on a 2ohm system will double their frequency blockage....wat fq do i want blocked up to? 800hz 1200hz 400hz?

You know if you got an aftermarket deck it would sound even better than is does now. Are you gonna get one?

is your bass hitting like reg with your stock g6 headunit? i was planning to do this as well but i was really worried the g6 headunit wouldnt power all the bass on the amp

                            ^?

Glad it worked out for you, as mentioned you did go with 2ohms so that's why it worked out so well for you. As for the white noise it's possible to have a bad connection, since you are feeding it into the amp still. In this configuration you probably won't get rid of it.
