    It's Official: VE Commodore Coming to the US

    I know this is kinda old news, but I've spent all morning reading about it and looking into different things. This will be the pontiac to replace my G6 next fall.

    Sweet! But is the Commodore a Grand Prix replacement, or the G6? I think the GP needs to be replaced quicker than the G6...

        Grand Prix replacement. It will be a "G8." I hear that they need to change the name because the Oshawa, ON plant has all rights to the Grand Prix name and it's assembly, so since it will be imported from Australia, it needs a different name.

        I've heard that this should be in showrooms by october of 2007. YAY!

                    I passed one on I-75 South one day heading downtown...it had the Manufacturer plate on it and I had NO clue what it was. Then when I got home I searched and searched and found out thats what it was! HOT!!!!

                        I don't know...the GTO is a niche car. The Grand Prix is a higher volume car and you see tons of them in Canada.

                          This car might TEMPORARILY fill in for the Grand Prix while they retool Oshawa and get it up and running. However it should be noted that Holden can not in any way produce anywhere near the amount of volume to match what would be needed to replace the Grand Prix. This is strictly a low-volume specialty car, much like the GTO was.

                              that engine bay is horrible. Car companies better not start in on a trend like that covering everything with plastic.
