Best of the best, Valintine one. Going to pay a little more. Its 399. Plus when they come out with new programs or updated radar instead of having an opsolite detector they will have new software for it. I have had mine for 3yrs and one sofware upgrade. Plus its the only dectector that has directional arrowns so if you know the cop is in front of you, behaind, or coming sideways. And the thing that tops it off it that it can track up to 9diffrent singles. So if you pass a cop with some one pulled over and figure with a normal dector and think that is the single there might be a cop still siting ahead. As with this one it will say 2in the little box letting you know there is a second cop ahead still. I love mine. I think its the best of the best. I have had passport and belltronics and there nothing close to this one. But like I said its a little pricey but you get what you pay for.2006 G6 GTP: Traded

But just a question, instead of radars they use infrared lasers, can a radar detector detect a laser beam?Canadian 2006 G6 GT Coupe, Black Leather, 8-spkr Monsoon, 17" chrome rims, SolarGuard HP Charcoal 22%, Trunk protector & roll carpet, Silver tire valve covers and a driver with a .

I've got a Passport 8500, and have never had a problem with it. It's always been very reliable in any of my adventures.
I went with the passport over the Valentine because of some articles I've read at http://www.radartest.com
particularly, on this page there is a chart at the bottom tat gives a good overview: http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=9090Originally posted by colinpeddleThey'll begin missing us soon. Re: radar
"They are illegal here in Canada"
Maybe where you live, but here in (redneck) Alberta there are 100% Legal and I'll second the Valentine One.
My buddy has it installed on his Acura TL and it has saved his ass more than a few time (he's had the car about four months). The only drawback can be the install and the constant signals from an urban setting. Just make sure you locate the box close by to mute it

Laser though, if the officer is properlly trained or isnt off a little, he will not get a reading back from his gun. I belive the only two places laser can hit your car and be detected is the windshield and licence plate. If he hits you hood, the reading wont nessassary come right back to the gun and they will show no reading. Most acuarte place is the licence plate area. Easy way to help defend your self against laser is buying laser protected plate covers that has a curvature to them so then if the laser does hit it, the beam is deflected to another spot and not back to the gun.
Overall, laser has its ups and downs. Biggest up is if you get hit with it, its 100% accurate and not much to argue ticket but pay it or try to get it changed to a diffrent fine ect. Down side is, its also difficult to get a reading back on the gun, and there very expensive so not your average PD is going to have a laser gun in its arsinal2006 G6 GTP: Traded

In terms of laser, the best defense is wawtching traffic up ahead. Also keep in mind that an officer must be stationary to use laser.

Radar works best as a cop is tagging other cars within the range of your detector.BMG Cofounder who happens to be a Petrolsexual

Ive been thinking of getting the X50 Passport, nice to see an actual chart of its performance.
And if that really how cops in cali ar ladaring people (one on a bridge a second issueing the ticket) take it to court. California law requires the officer presenting you the ticket to be the one that clocked you with the gun. At least it was that way when I took my drivers ed. Teacher got clocked that way, took it to court and the judge threw out the case because the officers double teamed like that.

V1 is the probably the best, but for the price difference the Escort 8500 X50 is a better unit. Either way both are constantly compared to which one is better. I use a Escort Solo S2 and love it.
You are pretty much screwed if you get tagged with laser, only way is if it hits someone else first and you pick up the signal. Same thing with instant on Ka, cept you have a little more time. A radar alone won't save you, you have to use your brain and keep a rabbit in front of you to follow
I would wait though because Escort is suppose to be releasing a new model by the end of this year.

If your willing to pay the price, the absolute best radar detection and Laser Defuser system on the planet is the Calibre K40 detection system.

This makes a Valentine 1 look like a playschool toy. But for all intents and budgets, it won't be a likely addition to a 6'er, ususally added to high end rides. The main reason i'm considering one is because its fully concealed and a cop would have to rip your dash and bumpers apart to find it.06 G6 GT Sedan (Black)
