  • "low oil level" message in DIC

so today randomly my car dings and says "low oil level" in the DIC, I went right home as I wasnt far and checked the oil level on the dipstick multiple times and it seems to me that it isnt low at all. I just had it changed a few months ago, and the oil life indicator says 60% still.

Any ideas? Maybe a bad sensor? Not sure if I should take it in to the dealership or not, I only have til july 11 on my powertrain warranty left. Definately dont want to have a major problem and end up breaking down out of warranty but I also dont want to take it in and have nothing be wrong and end up paying diag fees.

specs: 3.9 gtp, 57xxx miles running mobil 1 full synthetic since around 55k(ish)

If you stll have a warranty, bring it to the stealership and have them look into it, only if on their dime though.

mine did the exact same thing. i checked as well and nothing wrong. My DIC also said that i had about 55% oil life left. i got my oil changed and no problems anymore. its like the DIC wants us to change our oil every 6000 miles, but some other computer wants it changed every 3000.

My vote is an oil pan sensor. Take it in before your coverage is out.

thanks for the help peeps, put a quart of oil in it and it hasnt come on since. I am still going to take it in before the powertrain warranty is up in 2 weeks. I have a trans slip issue as well and I want both looked at before I run out of coverage
