  • Audio experts give me your opinions......

So I'm dying to put a double din touchscreen in the goat and get rid of the nasty stock radio. I'm not huge into audio, as long as it sounds good and has some decent bass I'm fine-don't need subs in the trunk and all that.

I would love a full 7" display but don't want to spend close to $1k on it. There is a used Alpine for sale for $600, its an IVA-W505 the guy sent out to Alpine to get recertified before selling it.

I'm looking at something a little cheaper such as the Pioneeer AVH-P3100DVD. What are your thoughts on either of these units?

    Thanks audio experts!

I believe in both Alpine and Pioneer's Quality for Car Audio are right at the top....however the price difference does leave some of a bitter taste in my mouth when comparing the two....
Pioneer: Expensive, but I've always believed you get what you pay for..........
Alpine: Economical, so I guess the question is, does it have all the bells and whistles you're looking for.

by no means am I an audio expert, but I've used Alpine Amps and Pioneer receivers in past vehicles.

Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD is just a step up from the P3100. It has the 7" display you are looking for. It is only about $100 more.

thanks for the info everyone, the P3100 can be had on certain sites right now on sale for $299-for that price its almost a given. Would I love a 7" screen, sure but I don't need navigation and really all the other stuff the higher dollar units have. I'm basically wanting something a little flashy and nice to get rid of the nasty stock radio the GTO's have in them. I think the 3100 is the answer hands down. Its cheap and looks nice, I've watched a bunch of review videos on it and videos of it in GTO's and its very nice!

^that's an amazing deal and I would love too but its just not in my price range. I don't need all the extras that and other high dollar touchscreens offer, $300 I'm good with Of course I'd still have to get the antennae adapter, dash kit, steering wheel control kit and the brake bypass connector so probably 400 or a little over after all said and done

steering wheel control is 85 alone.... and wtf is brake bypass? cuz u wanna watch movies and drive? all you gotta do is ground the parking brake wire if thats what ur thinking. (pending head unit of course. mine is a wire swap to achieve watching while driving).

Re: Audio experts give me your opinions......

thanks for the comments everyone, unfortunately the suggestions that were posted are out of my price range. Like I mentioned I'm not into audio all that much as long as I have a nice stock system such as the 6's Monsoon or the goats Blaupunkt I'm fine. BUT the stocker in the GTO is terribly ugly lol so I'm going with the Pioneeer AVH-P3100DVD. I'm just trying to figure out all the extras I'll need such as the antennae adapter, steering wheel control module, brake bypass, etc

                        thanks again everyone!

I know you said $300, but here is the AVH-P4200DVD for $390

                          http://www.artofsale.net/Magento/index. ... 00&x=0&y=0

I ordered mine off of this site. It WAS $380 before, but its raised $10.

What you'll need is the steering wheel module which I got off amazon for $40, antenna adapter off of ebay for $3.95, and I guess the stupid PAC OS-311B (or maybe a different model ) Check crutchfield and it'll tell you exactly what you need with your car even though I wouldnt order it from there. I got the $189 PAC wiring harness for $80 off of amazon also.

                          Good luck.

I really wanted a 7" screen but after learning more about how the screen is motorized to put a CD/DVD in I said nah-just another thing to potentially burn out. I ordered the 3100 through Amazon and everything else-6 items in total for the install on ebay for another $95 bucks-included the antenna adapter, wiring harness, metra dash kit, PAC SWI-PS, brake bypass, removal tools, and I think that's all of it
