I know in the Grand Prixs this was so much work only one person actually did it.

As for the G6 you would be the first.

I guess anything is possible. You would have to change out control head and replace one actuator as well as replace the resistor card with a linear power module to control blower motor and add 2 discharge temperature sensors.

Then a bunch of wiring reworks in the IP for all those changes and reconfigure the BCM.

He's basically saying that it CAN be done, but it's really not worth the effort required.

              Uh Oh!
I just ordered one! I'm hoping you guys are wrong on the extra sensors part and that the thermastat is within the unit. If so, it should be just an easy swap. Anyone else try this?

I wouldn't really count on e2helper being wrong on this, but good luck nonetheless.

Really? Are all those modifications really needed for the auto climate control to work? Both units are electronic, the only difference is that one is a thermastat and the other is not. I will try just switching the units themselves and seeing if they work.

There are more differences than one being a thermostat and the other not. For example, the auto climate control has a lot more variation in fan speed settings than the manual.

                          Good luck!

Hmm... I hadn't thought of that... I'll have to wait and see what happens when I install the unit

You will first notice you can't even plug it in because they use different wiring connectors :P
