    is there any way to get power for an amp from somewhere in the trunk?

    I wouldn't try that. You will run the risk of frying the wires that lead to the fuse box in the trunk. They are designed to suply enogh amperage to what it is running from the factory. If you had a beamer then it would be no prob since alot of them have the bat in the trunk. You will just have to run the wire from the front.

        I have my amp power wire hooked up to the terminal on the fusebox under the hood, as a few other members on here have recommended and done. Is that ok?

              I agree with everything that was said to this point. Mike all you did was shorten your power wire and hooked it up at an easier connection. That connection goes directly to the + terminal of the battery, its all good.
