  • Different tire pressures

After reading through some threads some of you drop or raise tire pressures for different situations. Would everyone post what tire pressures you use for different situations?
I generally run mine right at 30psi for driving and playing, how much can I play with this and what will be the effects?

    Re: Different tire pressures

mine are at 40 psi but this for me is just for tire wear. My tires wear even with this set-up. I also can get 34 mpg at 70 mph with my V6GT. But this can vary for each tire set-up.

      Re: Different tire pressures

IMO, 40 is too high. I try to run between 30 and 32 regularly, but when Im racing, I drop down to 24 or 25 in the front.

Yeah, I probably should have specified I have the Hankook Optimo 17 in. tires. 40 I think would be too high, it says on the tire max. press. is 44psi. I was thinking about adding five pounds and sticking with 35psi to help with gas mileage.

              Re: Different tire pressures

              on my 235-50-18 I run 30 psi
              on the 225-50-18 I run at 25

That is overnight temps... why the lower pressure on the LS-2.... they are on the back, so I need more stickiness there.

When I put them on front, I raise the pressure up to 35.

                  Re: Different tire pressures

I run my Eagle F1's at 40 psi. I've never had to adjust them while I've had them installed since October last year and they continue to stay at 40 and I've only rotated them once at a lil over 13K miles. I've noticed my tires wear down slowly at this PSI and I constantly drive at speeds between 35-80mph.

                    Re: Different tire pressures

GY Eagle GT's @ 40 psi for highway (max psi is like 50) and in my 3.6L that gets me between 29 - 32 mpg @ 75 mph. Racing I run at 28, but I think I'm going to try lower next time.

I agree that 40 would be too high for the stock tires. Very low profile tires usually have higher pressures (my friend's Lexus has 40 series tires and the recommended pressure is 35 front/37 rear.)

I also have the stock Hankook 17's. I raised mine to 33psi (from the recommended 30) and saw a slight increase in mileage without noticing any difference in handling.

Also remember that when your tires get hot the pressure will go up. I've seen mine increase by 4psi according to the TPMS.
