  • Volume difference Radio vs. CD

I'm not sure if this is normal or not so I thought I'd ask.

I have the Monsoon 8 speaker with 6 disc changer setup in my 07 Vert.

The volume between CD and Radio is very noticable. When I have a CD playing and swithch over to radio, the radio volume will nearly blow me out of the car. When I have the radio at a comfortable volume and switch over to CD, it's very quiet and I have to turn it up considerably.

At 3/4 volume with a CD, it sounds good, but 3/4 volume on radio will blast you out of the car.

    sound normal?

There's a definite difference for me. When I change from cd to radio, the radio is much louder...it's quite annoying. I had the same problem with whatever system I had in my cavy though...so I usually turn down the volume before i do any switching. :smoke:

        Thanks.

In the Ford Escape I had prior to this, it usually was slightly the other way around, the CD was a little louder than the radio. On my wife's mini van, there seems to be no difference (of course, it's a pretty lousy system).

Thanks again for confirming that this is more or less normal.

I'm loving the Monsoon system. Even to my 45 year old ears, it sounds great. (no, I don't listen to talk and classical, I'm not that old )

I've noticed this in every GM car I've owned over the past 6 years! Doesn't seem to matter which radio, either (mostly Delcos?). I thought it might be something with the Auto Volume, but that's not it.

GM dealerships haven't been good about explaining it ... or how to change it.

My radio sounds slightly louder than the CDs too, but also has to do with the CD sound, some CDs will be louder and softer than others VS the radio where alot of sound singles are jacked up real high for clarity. If you have an auto editior on your computer, burn a CD and custom burn the disc with the audio incressed on the songs and you listen too then should hear it much louder like the radio then.
