HOW TO add steering wheel radio controls

first thing to do is to remove the airbag as shown in this thread

after the airbag is off you will have to remove the silver trim on the right side of the wheel by undoing the screew circled in red and pushing the trim the direction of the arrowin the below picture. you will also have to remove teh cruise controls on the other side (remove the same way) to be able to undo the wires. remove the wires from the cruise control switches and from the SIR coil (the green arrow) plug in the new wire harness into the controls and plug it into the SIR coil. reinstall teh air bag and make sure everything works. NOTE the buttons will work but will not work correctly until the next step is completed at the dealer.


you will now need to take the car to the dealer and get them to change the options in the radio to tell it it has radio controls option code UK3.

on the off chance that the dealer doent know what to do these pictures are an exact walk through with the higlights as the option to choose.

first you have to build the vehicle (my vehicle shown yours may be different)


note this says"diagnosis"

note this says"Module Setup"

note this says "radio"


at this screen you will have to have your speaker option codes entered in(monsoon shown)

this is the option for the radio controls


after hitting that it will reconfigure and then say process completed. once that is displayed you should be good to go

no i went by the year of my car.

although for 05 you may have to build the car as an 06 since i think that the N34 is for a 3 spoke wheel and i dont know if that option would show up under 05

I didn't see a picture of the finished product.....

New wire harness? The controls on the right hand side of the wheel? I didn't see any of those, any chance we could see the before and after?

Seems like this thread was forgot about. I put the uk3 radio controls in my 07 sedan with the base radio and they work. Took me about 5 minutes to install and about 2 minutes to program.

Not so much lucky as I am a tech for GM lol. I bought the wiring, switch, and bezel. I couldn't believe the bezel was the most expensive part, and the switch was the cheapest.
