our trans fluid is synthetic i believe. you can replace it with whatever you want, it just has to be equivalant to AF6. i put Mobil 1 AF6 in mine
its might just be a family sedan, but girls love this car

How many miles you have on it and did you notice any difference?

              Re: Transmition Fluid

For transmission fluid, I would recommend the Mobil 1 series of synthetic ATF's (for those who use automatics). For all three of my cars, I've used their oils and they are fantastic.

For my first car, 1998 Ford Escort, I did the first transmission oil change at 83,000 miles and changed it with this stuff, and it hasn't given me any problems since. Transmission performance went way up and it's now 139,000 miles and still going strong.

For my second car, a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, I changed with this oil too at 50,000 and again at 100,000 and it's at 107,000 miles and running fantastic.

For my G6, I'm going to use the Mobil 1 again, so we'll see what kind of performance I get out of it over the original GM stuff.

Which one is better for our transmission? I want to get mine flushed and filled soon and I thought the dealer might charge me less if I bring my own oil.

                    Mobil Dexron-VI ATF

DO NOT use anything other then that if your going the Mobil route

edit:actually being an 05 you could use either or. Anything 06 and up can only use the Dex VI. for your 05 the DEX VI is gonna be the better choice but its probly gonna be more expensive

Dex VI is what I'll get then, how much should it cost for somewhere to pull out the fluid and put in this stuff? Should I have them replace the filter or no?

most places charge about 120ish but that includes the fluid. i have noidea what theyll charge you if you bring your own. (id get like 12 quarts or so) as for the filter you can its not gonna hurt anything. on my personal car im not gonna do it till 100k though

What is difference between the 05 and 06+? They are all the same transmission.

                              Re: Transmition Fluid

GM changed to a different transmission fluid. from 05 down they used Dexron IV (3) in 06 they started using Dexron VI (6). Dex 6 is a superior fluid that is fully backword capable meaning it can og in any automatic GM tranny. however if you put dex 3 in a transmission thats syposed to take dex 6 your going to cause problems.
