  • Turning off Traction / Stability Control

I know you can turn off traction control by pushing the button, but it still interferes as the wheels begin spinning, Is this stability control??

Can you disconnect or deactivate this?

I have a 2008 Silverado which I have been trying to use at the Ice/Snow Drifting track but that feature kills anything you get going, also if I am going to look into getting a Camaro than that feature has definetly got to go!

      say what now?????

pushing the button shuts it off so theres nothing else controling your traction

are you talking about when you get on it and the wheels start spinning all the way up to like 5 grand then it cuts back or shifts??

hard to explain, but if that's what it is it annoys the p*ss out of me too

Maybe thats the case with the 6...

I havent gotten mine fixed yet, but on the truck it basically just allows you some wheelspin then it kicks in again.
In the truck it happens anywhere from 1800-5000RPM

If you want to turn off Stabilitrak, just keep holding the button down longer.

The same thing happens to me too all the time. Its not the stability, in fact the only reason you would want the stability off is if your going to rip the hand brake. The stability has saved my butt alot. Take a turn too fast and under steer, get off the gas and then the ass end would break lose. The stability control is supposed to bring your car back to a straight line. Anyways I would have to say that the torque management is stopping the tires from spinning at WOT. This winter i did some testing in snow at half throttle and the tires would spin forever. Anyone with a tune have this issue?

stabilitrak can also be a hindrance and a danger. it's caused me to understeer and drive off the road under heavy acceleration instead of just letting the tires spin or the back end slide. since when is "bring your car back to a straight line" a good thing in the middle of a corner? no doubt it has its benefits, but if you know how to drive or are trying to intentionally slide around stabilitrak will get you in trouble.

This reminds me of the good ol days drifting in my HICAS 240sx. For those who dont know what the heck is HICAS is basically a 4 wheel steering used in the 90s. the car felt quite wierd when taking a drift and having the steering wheel in a full turn, making the rear tires turn a little too,

Even if the T/C is off Stabilitrak will eventually interfere. The owners manual for my wife's Equinox Say's to push the button to turn off the T/C and to hold the button down for at least 3 seconds to disable the Stabilitrak.
