  • Should i go through with putting a turbo on?

For the last week I have been working on the planning stage of a turbo with a local performance shop. I figure I should have the money in about a month, and I don't drive my car over the winter, so I don't have to drive it. Should I do it/is it worth it?

Re: Should i go through with putting a turbo on?

Turboing the 2007+ 3.5L would prove very fruitful. I'd say $5000ish+ for it... and it would give you better performance than a 3.6L or 3.9L for sure as far as HP and Torque would go. 224hp start with, you could easily bump that up to 300hp or so.. but I wouldn't go much further than that unless they are going to do tranny work as after that the car cannot be drivven hard a lot or it will die. If you got the money, and the people know what they are doing, go for it!! And post pictures and keep up updated on the process as you would be the first to do a turbo install on a G6. There were two attempts made with the 3.9L, one guy got it installed but never got it tuned then gave up... the other is still runing around with a intercooler but lacks any piping due to fund issues.

These are questions only you can answer. I'm sure everybody here would love to see the finished product. If you've got the money to do it and it's something you're all about then let 'er rip!

i'm putting the battery in the trunk myself so i wouldn't have to pay for that, and the place im going to i've road in groups of cars with him and so far he only said about $3000. Do you think the tranny will hold up since the turbo wont be that big? That is the really only thing im worried about.

I think it will but definitely add a tranny oil cooler and if you really want to upgrade to some 4t45-hd parts if you have the 4t45.
