  • AEM Dry Flow Air Filter

I switched out the old K & N filter from my Dr. Speed intake yesterday for a new AEM Dry Flow Filter.

While I had been keeping the K & N maintained properly, I was only getting mileage of around 17-19 mpg in the city with my V6. So far with the AEM the DIC is showing around 22-22.3 in the city. I have to say that really impressed me. I never saw those numbers with the K & N filter.

If you are able, I would recommend trying one out. I went with the 3" x 8" variety. It's alot tighter fit than the K & N was, but it fills up that area nicely.

Re: AEM Dry Flow Air Filter

well i dont know if anyone does a better filter for the g6... i have a jwt on my 300Zx, and it felt a good bit freer and more hp gains. sounds sweet too. For the 6er, i have the K&n, but if another manufacturer has a filter with the same diameter as the K&n cone, could that work?

I suppose any filter with the correct dimensions would work. But I am loving this AEM filter. AEM has always made solid products. I have used their stuff previously in an Integra and Eclipse.

Re: AEM Dry Flow Air Filter

I have this filter, its gonna be nice not having to oil the thing. You can find the filters a little cheaper than this but this is the companys web page.

Re: AEM Dry Flow Air Filter

Sorry guys, no pics as of yet. But it is model 21-2038DK. Its pretty snug. It sits higher than the K&N that came from Dr. Speed. I was a little worried about clearance issues with the hood at first. But after looking closer I think it will be absolutely fine.

AEM also makes the 3" x 5" filter they show in their list. That might actually be more comparable to the K&N that came from Dr. Speed in size. But I actually like the larger 8" that I have. It fills up that area of the engine bay nicely.

so digger, you got the 3 * 8? it comes just like the K&n right? since my maf sensor is on the piping, not the filter (just making observation of snowman's apc filter and comparing)

Re: AEM Dry Flow Air Filter

Ages ago when the AEM dryflow came out, I heard it let fine silica (sand) through which caused engine damage. This came from a friend that is a VW freak.

I did a quick web search but couldn't find anything.

                          Thoughts?

I have been leaning towards a K&N, but if the AEM is better I'll go that way.
