For a 2006 3.5L V6, I want to go with a K&N gold series filter. I need to know the filter number. I think it's either HP-1001 or HP-2000 something.

I think I read a thread about which K&N filter fits each model, but I can't seem to find it - can someone direct me to the thread?

Just as an FYI please use a descent filter, do a little research on filters and you may be surprised at what you find... ... ...

I found it using using GOOGLE. You guys will know the site, it's AutoAnything.com. Here's the link I used to find it. Although this won't likely help anyone, I figured I'd just post it for referance reasons.

NOTE: only good for 2005-2007 model years.

                  Re: Oil Filter

For the 2007+ 3.5 V6, the book called for a Delco PF-61 oil filter. Yet the dealer put a PF-59 filter on my car twice when I had my oil changes there. Is there a difference? I looked at both filters and they both looked identical.

                    Re: Oil Filter

Only difference between the 59 and the 61 is the 59 has an anti-drainback valve, the 61 does not. Other than that, same capacity, same size.

Since the filter in the 6 is facing downward, there is no need for the ADB valve. But having it there is harmless.

I have a motomaster oil filter and I think my last 2 were whatever the shop put on for a $30 oil change.

when I changed my own oil the book told me to get the wrong filter. Then I took it to my local shop to get it changed and he said the book had wrong number in it too and he had to put the filter for a 3.9 on.
