Yeah, sorry, the black zinc coated are for domestics. The goldish are for imports. I just got the rotors in for the front.... they split shipped my order! The rear rotors/pads won't be here till Monday. The entire rotor comes Zinc coated (black). After use, the portion of the rotor that touches the pad becomes silver. The center hub portion of the rotor stays black. Here's what my order was:
ADVANCE GOLD PADS ARE NOT CERAMIC PADS,THE BENDIX ARE ,YOU SHOULD USE CERAMIC PADS WHEN YOU HAVE CROSS DRILLED ROTORS,SEMI METALLIC PADS EAT UP THE CROSS DRILLED ROTORS LIKE CRAZY,DONT GET SLOTTED ROTORS THERE DESIGNED TO SCRAPE OFF A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR PAD EVERY TIME YOU STEP ON THEM,IN PERFORMANCE CARS THE SLOTS CLEAN OFF THE GLAZING ON THE PADS ,ON STREET CARS IT JUST WEARS THEM OUT QUICKLY.
If you look at them online, they tell you they are ceramic, and when you get to the sotre their computer tells you that the Golds are ceramic too. They come in a box that says semi-metalic so I questioned them about that. The manager told me there that the golds for this car are ceramic because they have a deal with GM because the original pads are ceramic. But since the rest of the golds they sell are semi-metallic (for the most part, some others are ceramic) that they did not want to change the box for those few sets of pads. IF this is incorrect, please tell me because I want to take them off my car and take them back!! But when I installed them the did not have the little chunks of metal in them that other pads do, and when I took them off a week later to paint my calipers, they still looked like they did not have those metal chunks in them. But please let me know.

The front arn't as dark black as the rear. but that part comes off after little use. I can take some pics further away, you just can't see the slots/dimples very well.

So how do the new rotors/pads perform? No annoying squeeking? No car "brake shake" (with the stock shit my 6 shakes a bit) while coming to a stop?
I'm still in the break in period... The rotors are zinc coated, and the pads have some sort of break in coating on them as well. The break in period is about 300 miles, where they don't recommend hard breaking unless it's absolutely necessary. So far.... no shaking (there was some shaking with stock pads/rotors right before I changed them out). The new rotors/pads are a little louder than stock, but not much. I can just hear a slight sound like a breeze. I still need to bleed the brakes though. I will let everyone know on performance after the break in (about a week) and after I bleed the brakes (also about a week).
Well..my rotors and pad came in...and in only 2 days....now its just a matter of finding time get them installed..and this car will be stoppin' on a dime! I can't wait
Just make sure you properly break them in. I think it's recommended to go easy on them for close to 300 miles. I didn't bleed my brakes after installing the new pads/rotors. Glad I waited. After replacing pads and rotors, they felt a little tight until the pistons seated properly. Now as soon as I get a chance, I'm going to bleed them.
I didn't have to bleed my system because my mechanic said he didn't let any air get in..so..yea...he's the expert..and the brakes work exceptionally well..so I am very excited..and I got my intake installed which was a nightmare but overall I'm very happy with it...
