  • Ungerdog's GTP Progression...Fresh detail 4/17/2013

My wife and I bought our 06' G6 GTP new in Feb. 2006. Here is the story that follows....

    One day old. Feb. 2006.

October 2006: Clean, but 35% tint all the way around is the only mod.

July 2009: The next mods arrive. GT-R Exhaust, Crab Intake & Calipers painted

The hose on the left that was incorrectly positioned has since been corrected. Also, that white zip-tie thing holding up the pipe has been removed.

September 2009: GTP rims painted body color blue on inner portion only.

Stay tuned: April 2010 and 70,000 miles later. Currently on order: Recessed upper/lower grills, GXP hood, GM Body kit, Racingline strut bar. Also, I am getting a headlight replaced that no longer has a good seal and is constantly getting water inside and I am getting the front bumper repainted. All of these mods will begin as soon as the body kit arrives next week (maybe week after).

The red calipers came before the rims were body color matched. IMO they don't look as good in the photo as they do in person. I am currently trying to decide what to do with the recessed grills that are coming in. I ordered them prime so I could paint them whatever color I wanted. I am having trouble deciding what color to use. We were thinking a nice satin silver on the upper/lower grills and then paint the calipers silver. That way, I would have a blue/silver theme going. When I say satin silver, I don't mean chrome and I don't mean dull gray, but a nice silver. Let me know what you think.

Beautiful 6 Ryan. Nice work on the car thus far. BTW, my wife and I love Virginia. I used to go there every year for a week or so (Charlottesville) to play golf, run and enjoy the hospitality and scenery. That ended when we gave up our membership at a local club a few years ago. But someday we're going back for another visit.

Thanks. Virginia is the 6th state that I have lived in. Been here since 06'. It's a nice state and we will most likely stay here for good.

I agree with the others, very tastefully done, looks great. That fourth pic down (parked on the country road) is beautiful. Makes me want GTP wheels and dual outlet exhaust even more.

I think the silver would look good espcially if you paired it with black. Maybe a daul color combo for the calipers then black surround with silver mesh for the grilles. Awesome work on the wheels, love the hint of body color without painting the entire thing
