    xReladinx's Progression Thread - 08' G6 V6!

    Hey guys, I just bought my "new" 2008 G6 with the 3.5l V6 on 4/06/2012. It has a little under 12,000 miles on the ODO and can't be more proud! This is my second vehicle I have ever owned, my first was a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer LT that I bought in highschool. It was time to upgrade, spend a bit more money and get something I REALLY enjoyed! I never did anything with the Blazer, although it would have been a great project vehicle to mess around with to get a bit more car familiar, as well as prepare me for some of the things I plan on doing to my 6'er.

    Future Appearance MODS:Plastidip rims, Paint brake calipers (black or red), 6000k HIDs lows + fogs, Replace all speakers and tweeters + sub.

    4/7/2012 - I planned on removing the chrome GM tags on the driver side and passenger side doors as well as the CarMax sticker (grr) that was on the trunk. As I started to remove these things, I removed "Pontiac".... then "G6"... and then finally "V6"! Couldn't be happier with the results!

        Love the debadged look, sooo much cleaner. Which one of your future mods are next?

          Just got back from a church softball game! Time to post my latest.. unfinished mod!

          4/9/2012

          I had to transfer the car from North Carolina and I don't know their laws but the front license plate bracket was already installed before I even knew about the car being available. I had never had to remove one of those before so I figured it would be just TWO bolts that I would need to unscrew, plug em up and be done... However there were FOUR plugs, and they weren't bolts they were rivets! I tried to unscrew them and they just kept a spinnin... Luckily someone on g6performance helped me out!

          Before:



          Then I drilled through the rivets (was nervous the whole way through) but they popped right off and revealed this...



          And almost passed out... haha, luckily it was just pollen and there was only one rivet that caused a slight amount of damage but is not noticeable.

          After:




          I meant to put a 3rd coat of base paint on the nylon plugs I have before I left so that will have to wait till tomorrow. More pics to come when those are ready and put in!

            Thanks! It looks like the appearance modifications seem to be the cheapest as of right now so that's what I'm working on now. My brother-n-laws grandmother owns "Radioactive" down here in Georgia and they do tint, so that will probably be next, coupled with heading to home depot to pick up a couple $8 cans of Plastidip and try my rims out. Also, the arrowhead overlays are in the mail so that will be done soon. And am conversing back and forth with the guys from CRABS! Lots of stuff to come!

              4/10 - 4/11

              Plugs are finally finished! I used 4 coats of base and 3 coats of clear and waited till it was dry in between. The reason I did this was because the plugs I bough had a line down the center of excess plastic from being cut from whatever mold they were made from. These extra coats evened up with that line and you can see it on the plugs! I have two more plugs and I may end up redoing one because a small gnat got stuck in my last coat of clear!!!! You cant really tell, but I CAN! Anyways, Im just glad to have those holes plugged!



              Edit: I know she needs a wash!

                Looks good! The debadge is possibly the cleaniest mod for our car.

                  I agree! So easy and simple to do, takes no time at all and really gives the car a nice clean look that no other mod could do!

                      I really like how the front plate hole plugs came out! Good work! I unfortunately have to have a front plate in my state. However I am working on a hideaway front plate that'll hopefully be unique for this car. Someday soon I'll get it figured out and done!

                          Work has been busy, haven't had time to hand wash!

                          Thanks, I like how the plugs came out as well, took about 2 days because I let them dry between coats, and often forgot about them! They were worth the wait though.

                          I really like the debadged look, I don't know if I want to remove the rear arrowhead badge or not... Im still waiting on the black ones to come in so we will see once I remove the rear one to place the new one and If I like it I might just leave it completely off!

                          I think the hideaway plates are a good idea, that way you can hide it when you want to take pictures or at a show or what not. I'm just glad GA doesn't require it because I HATED it on there!

                            whered you get the plugs from and what'd they cost? what size plug also?! lol sorry for all the questions
