The hood looks kinda out of place. I would paint that too. Nothing like a slick black car all around..

straight on it doesn't look bad, I still like it!

Reading the other comments I'll admit the hood doesn't flow, kinda stands out, I agree a color match would look SICK!
The silver mesh grill I'm 50/50 on - its super shiny and kinda goes with the hood ( tight grain patterns ) but with not so much chrome on the car and the silver on the rims a more dull style silver, i'd try to color match them to the rims??

All criticism aside - your car looks flawless and you all have done an AMAZING job!! Can't wait to see the progression!

                    Re: cmf9040 progression thread

thank you guys for all the positive comments and constructive critisism as far as the mesh goes. im also 50/50 . the hood will be partially painted this summer but we arnt sure how to do it yet. we want to mix old school with the new school. ill be looking at alot of older pontiacs at the shows this year to get some ideas on how to incorperate it into the g6. i agree a all black car looks awsome. but, its a ton of work to maintain, it has to be perfect all the time becuase we go to car shows just about every other weekend. my goal with this car is to keep it sleek, i want people to walk by and say..."hey, they used to do that back in the 50's" or "hey, i have never seen that done befor" lets face what. what do we see when we go to tuner style car shows? we see lambo doors, hoods, body kits, wheels, and tv's in the dash. its time to switch it up and its going to be expensive so from here on out you will probly see slower progress. we are looking into a color change or 2 tone or adding metal flake or pear also some airbrush is definatly in the future, im very good at free hand drawing so ill be practicing on some test pannels and ill probly be doing the airbrush on the car myselfl. re doing the interrior with black leather and purple suede, possible fiberglass door pannels and dash, some custom fiberglass fabrication, even if its just some new cup holders itll be done with some style lol a system in the trunk, nothing super banging loud., the goal is style for us. there will be alot of changes over the next 3 years, some wild, some mild. one thing is for sure. your going to want to stare

Your car looks great! I agree with everyone else that the grills look a bit out of place, not sure what I would do with them, maybe make a dark grey or black I suppose.

How bangin' will the trunk system be? i.e. will the top still go down (kinda pointless if it doesn't )?

Sounds like lots o' good stuff tho'

I would put out the spare and custom make an enclosure in that well. It would look sick and not sacrifice functionality. Better ge some run-flats

the idea for the trunk right now is to use the sprare tire for the sub enclosure, then do some fiberglassing with tv's., lights, mirriors and possibly a way to rig a fog machene up to a small hose that could run from under the car at shows into the tube and inside the trunk area with strobes reflecting off the mirriors and such...just an idea. the top will still be fully functional. im sure ill change my mind 500 times befor we even start.

Wow, that's alot of stuff your planning to do lol I'm looking foward to it all though ... even the purple seats lol The car looks great ... but I agree the mesh grilles should get color matched ... love the way the carbon fiber hood looks in the sun though ... wouldn't want to paint that at all.
