  • 09 GXP losing coolant

Hey guys, Ive tried researching coolant leaks on the 3.6 and I can't find any definitive. My car has about 85000 miles on it. Last summer I noticed the coolant level was slowly dropping and could smell it when I parked the car. I noticed the passenger side control arm looked wet and once and awhile a small drop on the ground under it.

I changed the water pump, not really all that hard, and I still had the coolant smell and slowly dropping level. I took the water pump off and resealed it and reinstalled it, still same issue. I then took off the top radiator hose coupling and sealed that as it only has a couple of O-rings in it. Still not fixed,

Today while looking around I noticed coolant on the drivers side below the reservoir. I can see what I think is the rear head gasket looking wet, like it is seeping. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an easy fix or do I need to pull the head?

Thanks for reading and for any help.

Pressure testing your cooling system would be a good step and proceed from there.
Some parts stores may rent testers out.
    Good luck with fix.

autozone will sell you a tester and buy it back when you are done.

I've never used a pressure tester before, but i might have an idea where my coolant is going. I took my oil fill cap off and there was some yellow foam on it. I know that means water in my oil. I'm hoping its just from short trips in the cold and not a head gasket. It's warm out and I'm going to a concert an hour away so we will see what it looks like after that.
